  The Florida Peace Officers' Association, Inc., is a program service organization; the Articles and By-laws state the mission, objectives and purposes of the Association shall be: to elevate the members of the association and of the law enforcement profession: TO ESTABLISH in the public mind the benefit and necessities of the criminal justice system and the social work of the profession; TO SPONSOR and assist in the enactment of such legislation as will tend to raise the standards of the professional as a whole; TO ASSOCIATE all persons who are employed in the criminal justice system in the State of Florida into an organized body so that the profession of law enforcement is enhanced and all branches of the criminal justice system may work cohesively; BY PROVIDING, inviting and fostering cooperation and coordination between the several law enforcement agencies, federal, state, county, and municipal, in the State of Florida; TO MAKE the criminal justice system and its practitioners more effective; TO EMPLOY the collective wisdom of the profession to advance the scientific technique of law enforcement, criminal detection, apprehension, detention and correction by research; and the dissemination of knowledge acquired by all the professions.

  The Florida Peace Officers' Association, Inc. is the oldest such law enforcement officers' association in the State of Florida; non-sectarian, non-union, non-partisan, fraternal professional organization; founded and Chartered in 1927 under Florida Law as a not-for-profit corporation. Membership is open to all active or retired persons of the criminal justice system, ladies auxiliary, and associate members approved by the FPOA Board of Directors.
